Recently returned from a weeks break close to the South-East coast of Ireland. We rented a secluded log cabin in the middle of nowhere and just relaxed in idyllic surroundings.
The only touristy thing we did was to visit Blarney Castle, home to the famous Blarney Stone. I didn’t kiss it myself, being already sufficiently endowed in that category, but Debbie did (eventually and with some trepidation). I found the Castle itself to be slightly disappointing, overpriced, and geared more towards the throngs of American Tourists ‘finding their roots’. The grounds however were absolutely stunning and full of fascinating ancient artifacts, we would have liked to have spent longer there but ran out of time.
The rest of the time we just explored the coast and walked – fantastic places all around: Kinsale, Macroom, Clonakilty, Skibbereen and more. Peaceful, relaxing, and cultured.
